The Power Side of Things Since these run on 230V, you can plug them straight into most industrial grids. No need to mess around with bulky, expensive step-down transformers. Now, if you pick a high-wattage tube but keep the physical size short, you’re creating a massive amount of heat in a tiny space. It’s great for fast ramp-up times, but it puts a lot of stress on the quartz ends. Just be careful with your housing. If you create a “hot spot” where heat gets trapped, you’re looking at a cracked tube. Quartz and Maintenance We use high-purity quartz because, frankly, standard glass would melt at these temperatures.
