Let’s Talk About Halogen Heat Lamps for Screen Printing
When you’re running a screen printing shop, time is everything. You can’t afford to wait around for ink to dry, but you also can’t risk scorching a garment. That’s why we build our halogen lamps the way we do. We use a tungsten filament inside a quartz envelope, kept stable by a halogen gas cycle. In plain English? It stops the filament from burning out too fast. This lets us crank the heat way higher than your average infrared lamp. The heat and the power Here’s the thing: you need a fast ramp-up. You want that ink flash-dried in a heartbeat without ruining the fabric. Because of that, we focus on high wattage density. Depending on the size of your machine, we’ve got different lengths and voltages to choose from. If you’re using longer tubes, a higher voltage helps keep the temperature steady right through the center—no cold spots. Just a heads-up: make sure your power supply actually matches the lamp’s rating. If they don’t line up, you’re just asking for a premature burnout. The gear under the hood We stick with high-purity quartz. It’s the best way to make sure the shortwave IR heat actually gets where it needs to go. Some of our lamps even come with a special coating. It basically bounces the heat back down toward the screen, concentrating all that energy right on the ink. For the plugs, we use R7s or SK15 connectors. They’re the industry standard, so they should slide right into most OEM machines without any fuss. Plus, they’re snug, so they won’t rattle loose while your machine is humming along. Keeping it running on the shop floor These lamps put out some serious heat. It’s great for your production speed, but it can be tough on your equipment. Keep an eye on your reflectors. If they get dusty, the heat traps itself in the housing instead of hitting the ink. It’s a simple fix, but it makes a huge difference. Also, if you’re running at max wattage, double-check your cooling fans. You don’t want your wiring getting brittle or degrading just because the air isn’t moving.
