If you’re running industrial ovens, you know the headache of trying to cover a wide area with heat. Usually, that means rigging up a messy array of multiple lamps. We built these 1000mm halogen tubes to fix that. One long lamp, 1000W of shortwave infrared energy, and it just works with a standard 230V supply. The feel of the heat Since these are a full meter long, you get a nice, broad spread of heat across your workpiece. At 1000W, it isn’t an aggressive, scorching blast. It’s more of a steady soak. This is exactly what you want when you’re curing or pre-heating large sheets and can’t afford those annoying hot spots that ruin a batch. Plus, because they run at 230V, you can plug them right into most industrial grids. No fancy voltage converters required. The tech inside (and a warning) We use a halogen gas fill in these. It keeps the tungsten filament from evaporating and sticking to the glass. Without it, the tube would cloud over and lose its punch. The quartz glass is tough when it comes to heat, but it’s fragile in other ways.**Please, wear gloves.**If the oils from your skin get on the quartz, the glass can actually crack once it hits operating temperature. It’s a pain, but it’s the only way to keep them from popping. Making them work for you These are pretty much drop-in replacements for most standard shortwave oven banks. The best part? They heat up almost instantly. You aren’t standing around waiting for a heavy piece of cast iron to finally get warm. But here is the catch. Shortwave radiation hits hard and fast. If your conveyor belt is moving too slowly, you’ll overheat the surface of your material before you know it. To keep things under control, you’ll want a decent PID controller to manage the power. I wouldn’t recommend running these at 100% power forever—you’ll burn out the filament way too fast. Instead, try pulsing the power. You’ll hit your target temperature and your lamps will actually last.
