They want to save some cash without slowing down their cycle times. The trick to making the switch It’s not as simple as just buying a cheaper bulb. If you just grab any lamp, you’re asking for trouble. Here’s the thing: it’s all about the spectral output and wattage density. If you swap a 230V shortwave quartz tube for a domestic one that has a different filament shape, you’ll end up with “hot spots” and cold zones across your plastic. It’s a mess. We focus on matching the exact wattage-per-centimeter. Why? Because it keeps the heat flux steady. That means you can just plug it in and keep your PLC timing exactly where it is. No recalibrating. No downtime. The trade-off (and how to handle it) Look, the European brands are still the gold standard for quartz purity. Domestic options have caught up a lot, but they aren’t perfect. You might find a cheaper tube that hits the right temperature but burns out maybe 15% faster when you’re running 24/7. It’s a balance. Do you want a lower price tag now, or do you want to change the bulbs less often? To be safe, we always suggest checking the current draw during the first 100 hours.
