
Getting Your PET Heating Right: The 630mm 800W Halogen Lamp
If you’re running a PET bottle blowing machine, you know the struggle. You need the preforms hot enough to blow perfectly, but not so hot that you’re basically melting plastic puddles. That’s why we built these 630mm halogen lamps. At 800W, they hit that sweet spot. They put out the kind of shortwave radiation that gets the job done fast without ruining your material. The balance of power and size We went with a 630mm length for a reason. It gives you a bigger heating footprint, so more of the preform gets hit as it spins. But here’s the thing about the 800W rating: it’s all about balance. If you try to push too much wattage through a tube this size, you’re asking for trouble. You’ll either get hot spots or the filament will just burn out way too soon. Also, a quick tip—keep an eye on your power supply. Voltage spikes are absolute killers for these filaments. Keep it stable, and they’ll last much longer. Why the quartz and gas matter We use high-purity quartz for the envelope because it can take the thermal shock without cracking. Inside, there’s a halogen gas cycle that stops the tungsten filament from evaporating and coating the glass. Why does that matter? Because once that glass starts to cloud over, your heat transfer tanks. Your cycle times go up, and your productivity drops. If your mounting clips match the 630mm span, these should slide right in as replacements. Simple as that. Keeping things running smooth In a real production environment, precision is everything. You want that heat hitting the preform just right so you don’t end up with “pearlescing” or a scorched neck. But the lamps are only half the battle. Your reflectors have to be spotless. If dust or oil builds up on those mirrors, the IR rays get blocked. Your instinct will be to crank up the heat to compensate, but that just kills the life of your lamps. Keep them clean. One last thing: use high-temperature leads for the wiring. Trust me, you don’t want your insulation melting off near the lamp ends.
