Power, Voltage, and Size: The Practical Details
Here’s the thing: this lamp runs hot. Really hot. We’re talking 2,500W to 3,000W, pulling serious current to push the filament past 2,500°C. That kind of heat demands a serious power setup, which is why we spec these for high voltage—often 400V. Why 400V? It lines up with industrial power systems, and that higher voltage means lower current. Lower current means smaller wiring, less voltage drop, and fewer hot spots at the connections. It just makes the whole circuit cleaner and safer. As for size, the 300mm length is a deliberate choice. It’s long enough to give you a stable arc and plenty of radiating surface, but short enough to slip into tight spaces inside machinery. So you can design focused heating zones without needing a huge enclosure.
Built to Handle the Heat: Quartz and the Halogen Cycle
When we say “clear,” we mean a clear quartz envelope. Quartz is the only material tough enough to handle those filament temperatures and stay transparent to infrared. So the energy goes straight out to the target, instead of getting wasted heating up the bulb itself. Inside, the tungsten filament stays protected thanks to the halogen cycle. At high heat, evaporated tungsten combines with halogen gas and redeposits back onto the filament—so the bulb wall stays clear, and the output stays steady. But there’s a catch: the lamp has to run hot to keep that cycle working. If you under-power it, or stick it in a poorly ventilated fixture, the cycle fails and the lamp burns out early. For mounting, we use R7s connectors. Those double-ended pins lock the lamp in place and handle the high current without wiggling loose. It’s a standard, dependable fit that makes swapping lamps a straightforward job on the plant floor.
What It Feels Like to Use This Lamp
On the line, this lamp brings speed and control. The infrared output cuts right through materials, heating plastics from the inside out instead of waiting for slow convection.
